Sync

Wrike Sync for Jira

Keeps a project and a Jira space in sync, so a change on either side shows up on the other. It's for any team that plans in Wrike while the work itself happens in Jira.

What it does

  • Your plan turns into Jira work. Projects and tasks become Jira issues, and the status shows up back in Wrike.
  • Your Wrike reports include Jira work. Once the Jira status is on your tasks, the reports you already have will show where engineering is.
  • Move to Jira at your own pace. Sync does the first move, then keeps Wrike and Jira up to date while your team switches over.

When both sides change the same field

You pick which side wins for each field, or have Shim ask you each time. Either way, Shim hangs on to the other value, so you can switch to it later.

And Shim never deletes anything.

How it works

Setup takes about 15 minutes, and you don't need a consultant.

  1. Connect

Sign in to Wrike from inside Jira. Only Jira admins (and whoever they allow) can set it up.

  2. Map

Pick a project and a Jira space. Shim suggests where each field goes in Jira, and how projects, tasks and subtasks fit Jira's hierarchy. Change whatever you want.

  3. Preview

You get a list of every issue Shim is about to create or update, plus every value it can't copy over exactly and why.

  4. Test

Run it on 5 tasks and go look at them in Jira. If something's off, undo the test and fix the mapping.

  5. Go live

Shim does the rest, and keeps the project and Jira in sync from then on. Any time it changes a value, it saves the old one first, so you can always undo it.

What syncs

Here's how things in Wrike line up with things in Jira.

Who it's for

Whoever runs the project.

You plan in Wrike and spend too much time chasing engineering for status. Now the status from Jira shows up on your tasks, and new work turns into Jira issues without anyone retyping it.

Jira site admins.

You install it, and you don't want to babysit it afterward. Only admins (and the people they allow) can set up a sync, and every settings change is logged with who made it. Shim only stores what it needs to sync, and it's encrypted.

Engineering leads.

Shim uses your issue types and required fields, and its issues go through your workflow like everyone else's. If one task has a problem, the rest still sync.

Common questions

Can I sync comments between Wrike and Jira?

Yes, both ways. Each comment shows who wrote it.

What if someone changes the same field on both sides?

You pick which side wins for each field, or have Shim ask you each time. Either way, Shim hangs on to the other value, so you can switch to it later.

What Wrike plan do I need?

Any plan works, Free included. Shim sees the same projects and tasks as whoever signs in to Wrike.

Can it move a project into Jira too?

Yes. The first sync brings the whole project into Jira, and it keeps syncing after that. If you already used Wrike Import for Jira, Sync picks up where the import left off.

Can I undo a change?

Yes. Any time Shim changes a value, it saves the old one first, so you can undo it. You can also undo the whole 5-task test. Shim never deletes anything, and it won't stomp on a value someone changed since the last sync.

How much does it cost?

It's free if your Jira site has 10 users or fewer. After that, it's $50 a month at 50 users, $100 at 100, $265 at 500 and $340 at 1,000. You pay through the Atlassian Marketplace.

Does it work with Jira Data Center or Server?

No, just Jira Cloud.
